idaṁ te nātapaskāya nābhaktāya kadācana na cāśuśrūṣave vācyaṁ na ca māṁ yo 'bhyasūyati
"This teaching should never be spoken to one without austerity, nor to one without devotion, nor to one who does not wish to hear, nor to one who speaks ill of Me."
What This Means:
Don't share this sacred teaching with those who lack discipline, devotion, or willingness to learn, or with those who criticize Krishna.
Going Deeper:
Four disqualifications: 'Atapaska' - without austerity/discipline; 'Abhakta' - without devotion; 'Ashushrusha' - unwilling to serve/listen; and one who 'abhyasuyati' - envies or criticizes Krishna. Sacred knowledge requires qualified recipients. Sharing with the unprepared wastes the teaching and potentially harms both giver and receiver.
How To Apply This:
Be discerning about sharing spiritual wisdom. Not everyone is ready. Look for sincerity, discipline, and openness before sharing deep teachings.
