Gita 18.43
शौर्यं तेजो धृतिर्दाक्ष्यं युद्धे चाप्यपलायनम्। दानमीश्वरभावश्च क्षात्रं कर्म स्वभावजम्॥

śauryaṁ tejo dhṛtir dākṣyaṁ yuddhe cāpy apalāyanam dānam īśvara-bhāvaś ca kṣātraṁ karma svabhāva-jam

"Valor, brilliance, fortitude, skillfulness, not fleeing from battle, generosity, and lordly nature—these are the duties of the Kshatriya, born of his nature."

What This Means:

The natural work of a Kshatriya includes seven qualities: courage, energy, determination, competence, steadfastness in conflict, giving generously, and leadership ability.

Going Deeper:

Seven qualities define the Kshatriya temperament: 'Shaurya' - heroism; 'Teja' - brilliance/vigor; 'Dhriti' - firmness; 'Dakshya' - resourcefulness; 'Yuddhe apalaynam' - not retreating in battle; 'Dana' - generosity; 'Ishvara-bhava' - leadership capacity. This describes the protective, administrative, governing personality - natural warriors and leaders.

How To Apply This:

If you're naturally courageous, energetic, and drawn to leadership and protection, honor that temperament. Develop these qualities for responsible use of power.
