Gita 18.41
ब्राह्मणक्षत्रियविशां शूद्राणां च परन्तप। कर्माणि प्रविभक्तानि स्वभावप्रभवैर्गुणैः॥

brāhmaṇa-kṣatriya-viśāṁ śūdrāṇāṁ ca parantapa karmāṇi pravibhaktāni svabhāva-prabhavair guṇaiḥ

"The duties of Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras, O scorcher of foes, are distributed according to the qualities born of their own nature."

What This Means:

The duties of the four social groups are assigned based on the natural qualities and tendencies each person is born with, not arbitrary rules.

Going Deeper:

'Svabhava-prabhava' (born from one's own nature) is crucial - varna is based on inherent qualities (guna) and tendencies (karma), not birth alone. This psychological interpretation sees the four varnas as representing different human temperaments: contemplative, protective, enterprising, and service-oriented. Everyone has a natural disposition that determines their optimal role.

How To Apply This:

Find work aligned with your natural temperament. Don't force yourself into roles that contradict your inherent nature. Self-knowledge reveals your optimal contribution.
