"Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, self-control, calmness, happiness, distress, birth, death, fear, and fearlessness..."
What This Means:
Krishna begins listing the various states and qualities that originate from Him. Both positive (intelligence, truth, fearlessness) and challenging (distress, fear, death) come from the same source.
Going Deeper:
This comprehensive list includes opposites: happiness AND distress, fear AND fearlessness. Krishna is the source of ALL experience, not just pleasant ones. Nothing is outside Him.
How To Apply This:
Every state you experience—good or bad—comes from the same divine source. This doesn't mean seek suffering, but recognize it too as part of the whole. Nothing is truly outside grace.
