Gita 1.40
कुलक्षये प्रणश्यन्ति कुलधर्माः सनातनाः। धर्मे नष्टे कुलं कृत्स्नमधर्मोऽभिभवत्युत।।

kula-kṣaye praṇaśyanti kula-dharmāḥ sanātanāḥ dharme naṣṭe kulaṁ kṛtsnam adharmo 'bhibhavaty uta

"With the destruction of a family, its eternal traditions perish. When dharma is lost, the whole family becomes overwhelmed by adharma."

What This Means:

Arjuna worries about generational consequences. When families are destroyed, traditions die. When traditions die, the next generation loses its moral compass. Chaos follows.

Going Deeper:

This argument has validity—wars DO destroy social fabric. But Arjuna ignores that the Kauravas have ALREADY violated dharma. The traditions he wants to preserve have already been broken by Duryodhana's actions.

How To Apply This:

Protecting tradition is valuable, but not at the cost of justice. When traditions are used to justify oppression, they've already been corrupted. Preservation isn't always the highest value.
