यो ब्रह्माणं विदधाति पूर्वं यो वै वेदांश्च प्रहिणोति तस्मै। तं ह देवं आत्मबुद्धिप्रकाशं मुमुक्षुर्वै शरणमहं प्रपद्ये॥
yo brahmāṇaṃ vidadhāti pūrvaṃ yo vai vedāṃśca prahiṇoti tasmai | taṃ ha devam ātmabuddhiprakāśaṃ mumukṣurvai śaraṇamahaṃ prapadye ||
"He who in the beginning created Brahma (the creator) and delivered the Vedas to Him - to that God who illumines the Self and intellect, I, desirous of liberation, take refuge."
What This Means:
God created even Brahma the creator and gave him the Vedas. He illumines the Self and mind. Seeking liberation, I surrender to Him.
Going Deeper:
This verse introduces the element of surrender (prapatti/sharanagati). Even the desire for liberation leads to refuge in the Supreme.
How To Apply This:
Take refuge in the Supreme with the sincere desire for liberation. Surrender is the beginning of grace.
