तस्मै स होवाच। एतद्वै सत्यकाम परं चापरं च ब्रह्म यदोंकारः। तस्माद्विद्वानेतेनैवायतनेनैकतरमन्वेति॥

tasmai sa hovāca | etadvai satyakāma paraṃ cāparaṃ ca brahma yadomkāraḥ | tasmādvidvānetenaivāyatanenaikataramanveti ||

"The sage replied: "O Satyakama, OM is both the higher (para) and lower (apara) Brahman. Therefore, the wise one, through this very means, attains one or the other.""

What This Means:

OM represents both the manifest and unmanifest Brahman. Depending on how one meditates, one reaches either the higher or lower goal.

Going Deeper:

OM is the sound-form of reality at all levels. Saguna (with qualities) and Nirguna (without qualities) Brahman are both accessed through OM.

How To Apply This:

OM is the gateway to all levels of reality. Your depth of practice determines which level you reach.
