यथा नद्यः स्यन्दमानाः समुद्रेऽस्तं गच्छन्ति नामरूपे विहाय। तथा विद्वान्नामरूपाद्विमुक्तः परात्परं पुरुषमुपैति दिव्यम्॥
yathā nadyaḥ syandamānāḥ samudre'staṃ gacchanti nāmarūpe vihāya | tathā vidvānnāmarūpādvimuktaḥ parātparaṃ puruṣamupaiti divyam ||
"As rivers flowing toward the sea disappear, giving up name and form, so the wise one, freed from name and form, reaches the supreme divine Purusha, higher than the high."
What This Means:
Like rivers losing their names and forms when they merge into the ocean, the wise person loses individual identity and merges with the supreme divine Person.
Going Deeper:
This is one of the most beautiful metaphors for liberation. Rivers don't cease to exist - they become ocean. Similarly, the self becomes infinite.
How To Apply This:
Let go of name and form. Flow into the infinite ocean of being.
