tasmai sa vidvānupasannāya samyakpraśāntacittāya śamānvitāya | yenākṣaraṃ puruṣaṃ veda satyaṃ provāca tāṃ tattvato brahmavidyām ||

"To that student who has duly approached, whose mind is peaceful and controlled, the wise teacher truly teaches that Brahma-vidya by which one knows the imperishable Purusha, the Truth."

What This Means:

The qualified teacher teaches the truth about Brahman to the properly prepared student - one who approaches correctly with a peaceful, controlled mind.

Going Deeper:

Both teacher and student must be qualified. The teacher must know Brahman; the student must have peace and self-control.

How To Apply This:

Prepare yourself to receive teaching: cultivate peace and self-control. Then the truth can be transmitted.
