तस्मै तृणं निदधावेतदाददस्वेति तदुपप्रेयाय सर्वजवेन तन्न शशाकादातुं स तत एव निववृते नैतदशकं विज्ञातुं यदेतद्यक्षमिति ॥

tasmai tṛṇaṁ nidadhāv etad ādasveti tad uprapreyāya sarvajavena tan na śaśākādātuṁ sa tata eva nivavṛte naitad aśakaṁ vijñātuṁ yad etad yakṣam iti ||

"The Yaksha placed a straw before him: "Blow this away." Vayu rushed at it with all his might but could not move it. He returned and said: "I could not find out what this being is.""

What This Means:

The same test, the same result. Wind could not move a single straw. The all-pervading life-force was powerless before the source of all power.

Going Deeper:

Both perception (Agni) and vital force (Vayu) failed. These represent our main ways of interacting with the world. Neither can grasp Brahman because Brahman is what enables them both.

How To Apply This:

Neither thinking harder nor trying harder will reveal your true nature. Analysis and effort both fail at the threshold of the absolute. Something else is needed.

Key Sanskrit Terms:

Ādasva= Take up, blow awayNa śaśāka= Could not
