अरण्योर्निहितो जातवेदा गर्भ इव सुभृतो गर्भिणीभिः। दिवे दिव ईड्यो जागृवद्भिर्हविष्मद्भिर्मनुष्येभिरग्निः। एतद्वै तत्॥
araṇyornihito jātavedā garbha iva subhṛto garbhiṇībhiḥ | dive diva īḍyo jāgṛvadbhihaviṣmadbhirmanuṣyebhiragniḥ | etadvai tat ||
""Agni, the all-knowing, hidden in the fire-sticks like a child well-carried by pregnant women, to be worshipped day after day by wakeful ones bearing offerings - This verily is That.""
What This Means:
Just as fire hides in wood until rubbed, the divine Self hides in all beings until awakened through practice.

The fire-stick metaphor shows how the Self is latent (hidden) but can be kindled through spiritual practice.

The divine fire is hidden in you, waiting to be kindled. Daily practice "rubs the sticks."
