Katha Upanishad 4.15Famous
intermediate
यथोदकं शुद्धे शुद्धमासिक्तं तादृगेव भवति। एवं मुनेर्विजानत आत्मा भवति गौतम॥
yathodakaṃ śuddhe śuddhamāsiktaṃ tādṛgeva bhavati | evaṃ munervijānata ātmā bhavati gautama ||
""As pure water poured into pure water becomes just like it, so the Self of the discerning sage becomes one (with Brahman), O Gautama.""
What This Means:
Like pure water merging with pure water becomes indistinguishable, the pure Self of the knower merges with Brahman - becoming one.
Going Deeper:
This describes liberation: the individual self realizes its identity with Brahman, like water merging with water.
How To Apply This:
Purify yourself, and you naturally merge with the pure. There's no separate "you" to merge.
