पराञ्चि खानि व्यतृणत्स्वयम्भूस्तस्मात्पराङ्पश्यति नान्तरात्मन्। कश्चिद्धीरः प्रत्यगात्मानमैक्षदावृत्तचक्षुरमृतत्वमिच्छन्॥
parāñci khāni vyatṛṇatsvayambhūstasmātparāṅpaśyati nāntarātman | kaściddhīraḥ pratyagātmānamaikṣadāvṛttacakṣuramṛtatvamicchan ||
""The Self-existent pierced the openings outward; therefore one looks outward, not within. Some wise one, seeking immortality, turned the eyes inward and saw the Self.""
What This Means:
Our senses are made to look outward at the world. Most people never look within. A rare wise person turns attention inward and discovers the immortal Self.
Going Deeper:
The Creator made the senses point outward for survival. But the seeker must reverse this direction to find what's eternal.
