बहूनामेमि प्रथमो बहूनामेमि मध्यमः। किं स्विद्यमस्य कर्तव्यं यन्मयाद्य करिष्यति॥

"Nachiketa thought: "Among many, I go as the first; among many, I go as the middle. What purpose of Yama will be served by my going to him today?""

What This Means:

Nachiketa reflects on death - he's not the first or last to die. He wonders what purpose his journey to Death will serve.

Going Deeper:

This shows remarkable composure. Rather than fear, Nachiketa contemplates the meaning of his journey. He seeks purpose even in apparent misfortune.

How To Apply This:

When facing difficulty, ask: What can I learn? What purpose might this serve? Transform obstacles into opportunities.
