अजीर्यताममृतानामुपेत्य जीर्यन्मर्त्यः क्वधःस्थः प्रजानन्। अभिध्यायन्वर्णरतिप्रमोदानतिदीर्घे जीविते को रमेत॥
ajīryatāmamṛtānāmupetya jīryanmartyaḥ kvadhaḥsthaḥ prajānan | abhidhyāyanvarṇaratipramodānatidīrghe jīvite ko rameta ||
""Having approached the undecaying immortals, what decaying mortal here below, knowing this, contemplating the pleasures of beauty and sense enjoyment, would delight in an over-long life?""
What This Means:
Nachiketa asks: Once you've glimpsed the immortal, who would settle for temporary pleasures? Who would want a long life of mere sense enjoyment?
Going Deeper:
Having tasted the possibility of immortal truth, worldly pleasures lose their appeal. This is the natural result of spiritual discrimination.
