Gita 4.23
गतसङ्गस्य मुक्तस्य ज्ञानावस्थितचेतसः। यज्ञायाचरतः कर्म समग्रं प्रविलीयते।।

gata-saṅgasya muktasya jñānāvasthita-cetasaḥ yajñāyācarataḥ karma samagraṁ pravilīyate

"For one who is free from attachment, liberated, whose mind is established in knowledge, who acts for sacrifice alone—all their karma is completely dissolved."

What This Means:

When someone is free from attachment, truly liberated, with mind rooted in wisdom, acting only as sacrifice—their karma completely dissolves. It's not just that no new karma is created; the old karma also disappears.

Going Deeper:

'Gata-sanga' (attachment gone), 'mukta' (liberated), 'jnana-avasthita-chetasa' (mind established in knowledge), 'yajnaya acharata' (acting for sacrifice)—these describe the complete state. The result: 'samagram praviliyate' (entirely dissolves). Knowledge doesn't just prevent new karma; it burns accumulated karma. This is why jnana (knowledge) is supreme.

How To Apply This:

As your understanding deepens, not only do you stop creating new karma, but old patterns and their residue begin to dissolve. You might notice old wounds healing, old fears releasing, old compulsions weakening. Knowledge has a cleansing, dissolving power. Trust the process.
