evaṁ pravartitaṁ cakraṁ nānuvartayatīha yaḥ aghāyur indriyārāmo moghaṁ pārtha sa jīvati
"One who does not follow this cycle of sacrifice thus set in motion lives in vain, O Arjuna. Such a person, delighting only in the senses, lives a sinful and wasted life."
What This Means:
If you don't participate in this cosmic wheel of give-and-take, your life is wasted. Living only for sense pleasures, taking but never giving—that's not really living. It's existing like a parasite, missing the whole point of human life.
Going Deeper:
The 'chakra' (wheel/cycle) refers to the yajna-cycle described in previous verses. One who opts out—taking from the cosmos without contributing—lives 'mogham' (in vain). 'Indriyarama' (delighting in senses) describes the consumer who only seeks personal pleasure. Such a life, however materially successful, is spiritually bankrupt.
How To Apply This:
Are you just consuming life or contributing to it? A life spent only pursuing pleasure and comfort, without service or sacrifice, is hollow. You might look successful but feel empty. Meaning comes from participating in something larger than yourself. Find your place in the cycle of giving.
