Gita 2.41
व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिरेकेह कुरुनन्दन। बहुशाखा ह्यनन्ताश्च बुद्धयोऽव्यवसायिनाम्।।

vyavasāyātmikā buddhir ekeha kuru-nandana bahu-śākhā hy anantāś ca buddhayo 'vyavasāyinām

"Those on this path have one-pointed determination; their aim is single. But those who lack determination have minds that are endlessly scattered in many directions."

What This Means:

Successful people have one clear focus—their mind points in a single direction. But people without resolve? Their minds scatter in a million directions, chasing endless desires. One arrow aimed at the target vs. arrows flying everywhere. Which hits the mark?

Going Deeper:

The word 'vyavasaya' means firm resolve or determination. The mind that's focused on a single purpose has power. The scattered mind dissipates energy across countless desires, goals, and distractions. This isn't just about action—it's about the quality of mind that makes effective action possible.

How To Apply This:

What is your one thing? When your mind scatters across dozens of goals, you achieve none well. Pick the most important aim and align your energy behind it. This doesn't mean you can't have varied interests—but you need a central organizing principle. Otherwise you're a ship without a rudder.
